&%PAPAYA, MANGO AND ME()

I'm gonna need another dose of Anna Karina Godard. As you can see in the video below I'm very tired. Just look at those eyes. I feel like I've been eating all day, which is actually what I did. I picked up my parents from the airport with my brother. They returned from their three week vacation in Suriname and brought a lot of fruit especially for me! And I love fruit. Papaya, mango and some sorts you won't find here. Had not done any of those waving on the webcam videos in a long time. So I thought let's just do one. Just for me :) Throw myself out there. Probably going to watch Le Petit Soldat in a couple of minutes. Tomorrow I'll focus on my thesis again. It has been such an exhausting week. My videos come without sound. No microphone. Seems I should turn on the light, it's getting dark. Can you believe I'm already here for 22 years? Sometimes I still can't.

Mr. Godard keeps amazing me. I just finished watching Une Femme Est Une Femme. I want to live in this movie. I'm in love with Anna Karina. Jean-Paul Belmondo looks so young and different from other roles he played. Some bits are hilarious. I laughed so loud. It's so witty. So charming. If I had to choose between this one and Breakfast At Tifanny's, which I saw on Tuesday, it would definitely be this one. Godard's genius is so well expressed in this film. His cleverness makes for so much originality. To have lived in that age. Who would not have wanted to be part of it?

I finally watched Bande À Part the other night. No idea why I waited this long to see it. It wasn't in my recently bought Godard box though, unfortunately. But this film is all kinds of amazing. Anna Karina has this unusual kind of beauty, she's not extremely pretty, but just enough that it doesn't become intimidating. She has such great eyes. She definitely was made to end up on film. Of course the scene where they run through the Louvre for me is one of the highlights as it has been remade in my favourite film The Dreamers. So just for that it was about time I saw the original in full. But already the opening sequence where you see close-ups of the faces of the three main characters edited together left me with my mouth wide open. And then there's the minute of silence, the über cool dance scene and the part where Anna Karina can be heard singing. And as always I love Godard's use of voice-over.
Here's a clip of that infamous dance scene that inspired other dance sequences such as the one from Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction.
